Patent Litigation Associate Attorney (Mid-Level)
Locations: Dallas or Houston, Texas

Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Intellectual Property Litigation Associate to join the IP litigation practice of a leading Am Law firm in Dallas or Houston. This role is ideal for an attorney with strong patent litigation experience who is interested in handling complex intellectual property disputes in federal courts, the International Trade Commission, and administrative proceedings before the PTAB.

The position offers the opportunity to work on high-stakes patent matters for a variety of clients while gaining substantial courtroom and transactional experience in a collaborative, nationally recognized practice.


Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in patent litigation matters, including both accused infringers and patent owners

  • Manage and support litigation in U.S. district courts, ITC investigations, and PTAB proceedings

  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal memoranda

  • Conduct legal research and technical analysis to support case strategy

  • Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation

  • Collaborate with clients, technical experts, and litigation teams to develop strategic litigation approaches

  • Support senior attorneys in managing complex IP disputes from inception through resolution


Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of patent litigation experience

  • Experience representing both patent owners and accused infringers

  • Experience litigating before federal district courts, the ITC, and/or USPTO PTAB proceedings

  • Technical background required, preferably a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field

  • USPTO registration preferred but not required

  • Strong analytical, research, writing, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials

  • Active admission to the Texas State Bar


Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a competitive compensation package with a salary range of approximately $260,000–$365,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
