JOB PURPOSE / REASON:




Part-time CTE Field Trip Drivers needed for single day career exploration visits for CCSD students using 15 passenger buses.  Experience is welcome but not required. Instruction and certification support available.  This position is responsible for the safe and efficient bus transportation for Careeer and Technical Education trips.
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
Good driving record and must be insurable.
Training / Certification funds are available
For buses designed for less than 15 passengers:
Driver must have completed the S.C.D.O.E. (South Carolina Department of Education) bus driver training course (classroom) and BTW (behind the wheel training) mandated by the S.C.D.O.E.
For buses designed for more than 14 passengers, drivers must possess:
An active and current class B CDL (commercial drivers liocense), with a P (passenger) and S (school) endorsement, along with a Bus Driver certificate from the S.C.D.O.E. (South Carolina Department of Education)
OTHER SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:
Must remain in compliance with Federal / State / Division regulations regarding the use of controlled substances and alcohol as applied to school bus drivers.  This includes being subject to random drug / alcohol testing conducted by the school district, in accordance with regulations.
PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obeys all applicable laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers.
Ensures the bus can be operated safely before driving and conducts pre-trip safety inspections as required by Federal and State Laws to include visual defects and checking operating systems to include brakes, horn, lights, emergency flashers and door opening devices.
Notifies the proper authority in cases of mechanical failure, safety deficiencies and/or other incidents.
Completes the pre-trip and post-trip form and turns it in to the approporiate school supervisor.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Time spent driving on public roads in changing weather conditions.
May be required to lift up to 45 pounds.
