Job Description:

Primary Responsibility

Under the direction of the Director of Student Life and Housing and the Residence Life Coordinator, the Residence Life Assistant performs varied administrative and clerical duties in support of the Residence Life program.

This is a student position that will work a minimum of 5 hours per week for up to 18 weeks in the semester. Work sites will include the three CMC residential campuses (Spring Valley, Leadville, and Steamboat Springs). *This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC's workweek. CMC's workweek is Saturday through Friday.

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position: incumbent must be full-time enrolled CMC student pursing a degree with experience working in residence life, student leadership positions, or other on-campus positions involving strong student engagement and administrative skills. Must be a current Resident Assistance.

Applicants must demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to assume a high level of responsibility for managing one's own work. Follow detailed directions and processes, maintain confidentiality, ability to engage and develop a positive rapport with students, and proficiency in basic computer skills.

Colorado Mountain College requires that employees perform their assigned duties within the State of Colorado. The College further expects employees to accurately report their work location at all times. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

The hiring pay rate is $21.12 per hour. Benefits include retirement contribution, annual and sick time, mental health resources, and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate's skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed, this will be set commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Minimum Qualifications:

Essential Duties

  • Arrive two business days prior to RA team (or as determined by supervisor) to complete additional training and prepare for RA training each semester.

  • Depart one business day after RA team to complete closing paperwork and other tasks as assigned.

  • This position may take a lead role working with Residence Hall Association, educational programming, and other administrative projects such as Health and Safety checks.

  • Work scheduled hours in the Office of Residence Life or Residence Hall Front Desk that support all campus operations.

  • Front Desk administration, Coordinate Health & Safety checks as directed.

  • Complete administrative tasks & paperwork as assigned.

  • Co-advise & plan for Residence Hall Association

  • Scheduling & Forms.

  • Assist with RA Programming and other creative components of the RA role (bulletin boards, etc.).

  • Process hall opening & closing forms.

  • Reconcile P-card.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Successful completion of a background check including a motor vehicles records report required. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned.

Working Conditions

This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oralcommunication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
