We are presently hiring for caring PART TIME Direct Support Professionals (DSP)/Caregiver for our Respite Program (Saturday and Sunday Only from 8:30am - 1:30pm - 5 hours each day), who will assist and support these vulnerable individuals on weekends at one of our facilities in Nevada. What's a day look like in the life of a DSP?
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the Respite Program is responsible for providing high-quality care and support to children and youth participating in Tancell Care's facility and community based respite services. This role ensures participants are engaged in safe, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate activities while giving families and caregivers temporary relief. The DSP promotes socialization, skill development, and emotional well-being in a structured and supportive environment.
Specifically, you will...
  • Provide direct care and supervision to youth with intellectual and developmental support needs during respite services.
    • Implement individualized care plans to address the participant's needs, preferences, and support goals.
    • Facilitate recreational, educational, and life skills activities, including arts and crafts, music, sensory play, and social skill development.
    • Ensure a safe, clean, and inclusive environment by following safety protocols, equipment procedures, and infection control standards.
    • Support positive peer interaction and model respectful, inclusive behavior.
    • Complete required documentation, including daily service notes, incident reports, and attendance records.
    • Communicate regularly with families, guardians, service coordinators, and supervisors in a professional and respectful manner.
    • Assist with community outings, ensuring proper supervision and safety during transportation if applicable.
    • Attend scheduled staff meetings and complete all required training sessions.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the respite program.

Requirements
How do you qualify?
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years of verifiable experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental support needs required.
• At least six (6) months of supervisory experience in a respite, camp, childcare, or similar program required.
• Knowledge of child/youth development, recreational programming, and community integration strategies.
• Strong skills in staff supervision, program coordination, and crisis management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with scheduling and reporting software preferred.
• Ability to establish rapport with children, families, and community partners.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds as required for participant assistance.
