The Bilingual OER Course Creator is responsible for developing a Medical Assisting (MDAS) course using Open Educational Resources (OER) in both English and Spanish.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator of Medical Assisting, the Bilingual OER Course Creator is responsible for effective performance in these essential duties:
Key responsibilities include:

Course Development Using OER
  • Create a complete MDAS course without reliance on a traditional textbook.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select high‑quality Open Educational Resources (OER) that align with course outcomes.
  • Assess the quality, accuracy, and appropriateness of instructional materials sourced from OER repositories and other open‑license platforms.
  • Develop course content that meets academic standards and supports student learning.
Bilingual Content Creation (English and Spanish)
  • Produce course materials in both English and Spanish to support bilingual instruction.
  • Source, adapt, and integrate bilingual instructional resources that meet OER licensing requirements.
  • Ensure linguistic accuracy and cultural relevance across all bilingual materials.
Instructional Material Production
  • Create instructional assets such as PowerPoint presentations, videos, and other multimedia learning tools.
  • Develop assessments including quizzes, exams, and other evaluative instruments.
  • Ensure all materials are accessible, engaging, and aligned with course objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related field, one year of relevant experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with Open Educational Resources (OER)
  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in medical terminology
Special requirements: 
  • The incumbent may travel to public sites to make presentations as well as travel to regional or central meetings and conferences.
Salary 
  • $52.35 hourly
