HR/Payroll Data Migration Specialist (Temporary, Part-Time)
Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week (5 hours/day, 4 days/week)
Duration: Approximately 5-6 months
Support a Major Workday Implementation
Kelso Industries is seeking a highly detail-oriented HR/Payroll Data Migration Specialist to support a company-wide Workday implementation project.
In this temporary, part-time role, you will work with HR and payroll data from multiple operating companies, extracting, validating, organizing, and preparing employee information for migration into Workday. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, spreadsheets, HRIS systems, and payroll information while ensuring a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
This is primarily a data-focused position, not a general HR role.
If you thrive on accuracy, organization, and problem-solving and have experience working with HRIS or payroll systems, we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Do
  • Access multiple HRIS and payroll systems to retrieve employee information
  • Export and organize large employee datasets
  • Extract payroll, tax withholding, and employee demographic data
  • Populate standardized Workday migration templates
  • Validate data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy
  • Identify missing, duplicate, or inconsistent information
  • Communicate data discrepancies and recommendations to the project team
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll records
  • Follow established migration procedures and documentation standards
  • Meet project deadlines while maintaining exceptional data quality
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll, HR administration, HRIS, data management, or a related field
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including:
    • Sorting and filtering
    • Formulas and lookups
    • Data validation
    • Spreadsheet formatting
  • Experience working with HRIS and/or payroll systems
  • Experience extracting, organizing, and validating data
  • Ability to manage large spreadsheets containing hundreds or thousands of employee records
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed procedures
  • Experience handling confidential employee information
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with payroll data, tax withholding, or employee records
  • Experience supporting HRIS, payroll, or software implementations
  • Data migration or data conversion project experience
  • Workday experience
  • Multi-state payroll experience
  • Advanced Excel data cleansing and reconciliation skills
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?
The ideal candidate:
  • Notices small data discrepancies that others miss
  • Prioritizes accuracy over speed
  • Enjoys working with spreadsheets and structured processes
  • Can stay focused during detail-intensive work
  • Takes ownership of data quality
  • Is comfortable handling confidential employee and payroll information
  • Works independently with minimal supervision
Before You Apply
This role may be a great fit if you:
Have strong Excel skills
Have worked in HR, payroll, HRIS, or employee data management
Enjoy identifying and correcting data issues
Are comfortable working with large datasets
Can commit to a temporary, part-time assignment for approximately 5-6 months
This role is likely not a fit if you are seeking a full-time, permanent position or if you have limited experience working with spreadsheets, HRIS systems, or payroll-related data.
