New York Bus Sales, the largest authorized Blue Bird School Bus dealership in New York State currently has an immediate opening for an Inside Parts Sales Representative in our current Chittenango, NY location. New York Bus Sales will be moving to its new location in Syracuse, NY about mid-June 2026.
New York Bus Sales is a full-service dealership offering sales, service, parts, and graphics. We provide safe, dependable buses for our customers and professional services to meet their needs.
Job Summary
The primary function of the Inside Parts Salesperson is to sell parts to all internal and external customers via phone, email, parts counter, and service counter. This role must also assist all customers in a friendly and proactive manner to fulfill all needs such as parts and supplies identification, timely filling of requests, and a sense of urgency filling orders.
Supervision
The Inside Parts Salesperson performs a variety of routine duties within established policies and procedures or by referring to the supervisor's guidelines. Most duties are completed independently.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide best in class customer service.
  • Meet Company and Department objectives such as sales quotas, gross profit requirements, etc. by taking a proactive approach to achieve those goals.
  • Follow established Company policy and Department procedures and workflows to complete tasks.
  • Produce sales by soliciting accounts, offering sales specials, promoting related sales.
  • Keep current on new products and product updates.
  • Ensure parts orders are delivered to both internal and external customers accurately, efficiently, and within the customer's expected deadline to maintain superior customer service levels.
  • Assist all internal and external customers in selecting the appropriate parts, including parts application look up functions for multiple bus manufacturers, in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Answer phone calls: provide sales quotes and other information and generate sales orders.
  • Notify customers of companion part requirements and specials, and ensure the customer is exposed to the full product line.
  • Properly read repair orders and PDI's and order the proper parts.
  • Correctly allocate all parts to the proper jobs.
  • Notify internal customers when all parts for repair orders have been received.
  • Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
  • Follow up on backordered parts.
  • Locate out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submit an emergency order, if necessary.
  • Report inventory discrepancies to inventory control person.
  • Keep orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates and special-order parts.
  • Follow all prescribed safety methods and perform work safely.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Assist other work areas when needed.

Requirements
Required Knowledge/ Qualifications/ Skills/ Abilities
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills.
  • Read bus and parts diagrams to properly identify parts.
  • Retain common part numbers.
  • Make good business decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies.
  • Sufficient speech and hearing for regular, professional, in person, and telephone communication with all customers, other employees and supervisors.
  • Understand oral and written company and industry correspondence sufficiently to communicate with customers and participate in all other parts department activities.
  • Write or type sufficiently to communicate with customers and vendors via email or fax.
  • Perform numeric calculations accurately when calculating prices and sales for customers.
  • Have transportation to/from other NYBS facilities, customer locations, seminars, workshops to perform duties as required.
  • Be safety conscious and demonstrate the ability to follow prescribed safety practices to prevent injuries to self and others.

Full-time, Monday thru Friday, Day shift.
