POSITION TITLE: Operations Manager

Reports To: President

Supervises: Production Line Supervisors, Machine Shop Manager, Parts Manager, and Facility Maintenance Personnel

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our production and related processes. As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient coordination and control of production activities, meeting production objectives, and managing costs in alignment with the budget. Your expertise in operations management and leadership skills will be essential in achieving operational excellence and driving the company's growth.

Primary Duties:

  1. Production Planning and Coordination: Develop production output plans for all manufactured items based on historical sales data and guidance from the President. Ensure that production lines operate at maximum efficiency to meet production targets.
  2. Team Guidance and Training: Provide guidance, performance objectives, and training to production and support personnel to enhance efficiency and meet performance targets.
  3. Quality Control: Implement necessary controls and training throughout the production process to maintain finished goods' quality in line with company standards and objectives.
  4. Cost Management: Manage and control all production-related costs, including labor and materials, to ensure cost-effective production of finished goods.
  5. Third-Party Material Procurement: Collaborate with parts personnel to establish proper ordering procedures and guidelines for third-party purchased raw materials and tools, optimizing order processing and cost efficiencies while maintaining material inventory levels.
  6. Facility and Equipment Maintenance: Provide guidance and direction to Facility/Machine Maintenance Personnel to ensure all facility and equipment components are calibrated, maintained, and functioning properly to prevent/minimize production interruptions.
  7. Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to standard and regulated workplace safety standards, taking management-approved corrective actions as necessary.
  8. Budget Management: Assist the President in preparing and monitoring production-related operating budgets and annual plans, providing explanations for variances on a monthly basis.
  9. Performance Monitoring: Constantly monitor key operating metrics to ensure day-to-day production operations' efficiency and financial strength. Implement corrective measures when metrics fall outside acceptable guidelines set by the President.
  10. Strategic Decision Support: Assist in key management decision-making by providing documentation and analyses to identify strategic and operational opportunities for growth and financial improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in operations management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive operations experience in manufacturing or related fields.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing a high-volume production environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and people management/training skills.
  • Proficient in budget development and oversight.
  • Knowledge of business productivity software and ability to learn new applications.
