What is a parts director?

Parts Directors are professionals responsible for overseeing the parts department within automotive dealerships, manufacturing companies, or similar organizations. They manage inventory, supervise staff, develop budgets, and ensure efficient distribution of parts to meet the needs of both internal and external customers. Parts Directors play a key role in maximizing profitability, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, and ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. Their role often involves collaboration with service, sales, and procurement teams to optimize operations.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a parts director?

To thrive as a Parts Director, you need comprehensive knowledge of inventory management, automotive parts, and supply chain operations, often supported by relevant industry experience or a bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
