Parts Counter Associate

Job Summary

Join a stable, locally owned company with nearly 80 years of history! Shade Equipment is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Parts Counter Associate. The ideal candidate will lookup, order, and sell parts for lawn and garden equipment, commercial trucks, and outdoor power tools while providing exceptional service to both walk-in retail customers and our internal service shop. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Assist walk-in customers and phone callers with identifying and locating the correct parts for their equipment.
  • Parts Lookup: Utilize electronic parts catalogs, diagrams, and manufacturer databases to accurately identify required components.
  • Inventory Control: Receive, tag, stock, and organize incoming inventory. Maintain a clean and accurate parts showroom and warehouse.
  • Shop Support: Coordinate closely with our service technicians to ensure they have the necessary parts to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Order Management: Place special orders with vendors, track shipments, and notify customers immediately upon arrival.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Prior experience in a parts department, automotive store, or outdoor power equipment environment is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Computer literacy is required to operate parts lookup software and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to clearly discuss part numbers, pricing, and availability with staff and customers.
  • Licensing & Transportation: Must possess a current, valid driver’s license and maintain a reliable mode of transportation.
  • Attendance: Ability to report to work on time, including during some inclement weather.
  • E-Verify: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form (Form I-9) upon hire.
