Job description

Associate - Insurance Coverage – (hybrid from anywhere we have an office)

Weber Gallagher is seeking an associate attorney with strong experience in insurance coverage law to join our team. The ideal candidate will have three to seven years of experience working hands-on with complex coverage matters. The individual in this role will have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule from any state where we have an office.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal analysis and advice to insurance carriers on a wide range of coverage issues.
  • Handle all aspects of insurance coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions and bad faith claims.
  • Participate in strategic case planning and risk assessment.
  • Draft coverage opinions, pleadings, written discovery, motions, and participate in arbitrations and trials.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop sound case strategies.
  • Communicate with clients, the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
  • Provide regular and timely updates to clients on case status, strategy, and potential outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and legal staff.
  • Manage cases while adhering to billing and budget requirements.
  • Ability to travel for court, client meetings, etc.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule from our offices in either Bedminster, Long Island or Chicago.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 or more years of experience in 3rd-party Insurance Coverage law.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Must be licensed to practice in any state where Weber Gallagher has an office.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven track record of success in courtroom appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations.

   

This position offers a salary range of $110,000 plus and is based on a variety of factors including education, experience, and internal equity.
