What are part-time jobs?

Part-time jobs are positions in which employees work fewer hours per week than full-time employees, typically less than 35-40 hours. These jobs often offer more flexible schedules, making them ideal for students, parents, or anyone needing to balance work with other commitments. Part-time roles can be found in a variety of industries, such as retail, food service, healthcare, and administration. Benefits and pay may vary compared to full-time positions, and some part-time jobs may not offer benefits like health insurance or paid time off.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part-time worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a part-time worker, you generally need reliability, time management, a willingness to learn, and the relevant educational or experience requirements for the specific role. Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, scheduling software, or other job-specific tools is often beneficial. Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork are valuable soft skills that help part-time employees integrate quickly into existing teams. These skills and qualities are important because part-time roles often require flexibility and the ability to contribute effectively within limited hours.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time employees, and how can they overcome them?

Part-time employees often face challenges such as limited access to benefits, inconsistent scheduling, and fewer opportunities for advancement compared to full-time staff. To overcome these, it's helpful to communicate availability clearly, proactively seek feedback, and express interest in professional development opportunities. Building strong relationships with colleagues and supervisors can also lead to greater flexibility and consideration for future full-time roles. Staying organized and adaptable is key to balancing work with other commitments.

Job description

Are you passionate about nurturing young minds and creating a warm, engaging learning environment for children? Country Cottage Preschool is looking for an enthusiastic and caring Preschool Teacher (Part-Time) to join our dedicated team! We provide high-quality care and education for children ages 2-5 years, and we’re seeking someone who shares our love for fostering creativity, curiosity, and a sense of community among our little learners.

Whether you're looking for a full-time role (preferred) or a part-time position, we'd love to hear from you!

Why Join Our Team?

  • Collaborative Environment: Work alongside supportive co-teachers in a positive, team-centered atmosphere.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible part-time hours available — ideal for students or individuals balancing other commitments.
  • Make a Difference: Help shape the early development of young children through play-based learning and nurturing guidance.
  • Growth Opportunities: Potential for professional development and growth within our preschool community.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re searching for a teacher who is:

  • Passionate about working with children aged 2-5.
  • Reliable, with excellent attendance and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating with co-teachers to create a warm, inclusive learning environment.

Available Schedules:

Part-time: Monday to Friday, 12:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Flexible scheduling: If you're a student, we’re happy to work around your class schedule.

Requirements (Upon Hire):

  • Minimum of 12 ECE/CD units (or at least 6-9 units if currently enrolled).
  • Current health screening, including TB test and immunizations.
  • Live Scan fingerprint clearance/background check.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or willing to obtain upon hire).
  • Mandated reporter training (or willing to complete upon hire).
  • Classroom experience (at least 6 months) preferred but not required.

Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly pay ($17.50 - $21.00 per hour).
  • Positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children every day.

Join us in creating a loving, enriching space where children can thrive. We can't wait to welcome you to our Country Cottage Preschool family!
