Job description

Duties: Under the supervision of the Athletics Coordinator, the Youth Basketball Instructor is responsible for the following:
  • Overseeing the Youth Basketball Skills Clinic and Kindergarten League.
  • Skills Clinic Instructor:
    • Responsible for teaching basketball skills classes to 1st - 4th graders.
  • Kindergarten League Instructor:
    • Responsible for teaching basketball fundamentals to kindergarteners and refereeing league games.
  • Follows all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; supports all aspects of the Park District's safety program.
  • Performs all other duties as required.

Essential Functions: Must be able to be on your feet for multiple consecutive hours, run, jump, and lift up to 45 pounds.
Experience: Previous experience is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge and Ability:
  • Understanding of basic philosophy surrounding the game of basketball, and the ability to interpret that to staff and public.
  • Ability to be punctual, dependable, and trustworthy.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with the public and fellow employees in an enthusiastic, cooperative, and productive manner. Demonstrate great customer service.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
