Job description

About Company:

McAlester Regional Health Center is a community-focused healthcare organization committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care to southeast Oklahoma. With a strong history of service and growth, MRHC is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve while investing in the development of our employees. Guided by values of teamwork, integrity, and excellence, we foster a supportive and inclusive workplace where every team member is valued. At MRHC, employees have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while building a rewarding career in healthcare.

About the Role:

The Part-Time Grant Writer supports the MRHC Foundation by researching funding opportunities; preparing and submitting compelling grant proposals; and tracking deadlines, applications, awards, and reporting requirements. This position collaborates with hospital leaders and community partners to identify funding needs and secure resources for MRHC programs, equipment, services, and community health initiatives. A bachelor’s degree in communications, English, business, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field or a nationally recognized grant-writing certification is required. Previous grant-writing, fundraising, nonprofit, or healthcare experience is preferred. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent writing, research, organization, project-management, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Policy, Healthcare, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in grant writing with a successful track record of securing funding.

  • Strong knowledge of community development and engagement principles.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including advanced grammar proficiency.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with grant administration and reporting requirements.

  • Familiarity with fundraising strategies and donor relations.

  • Background in public policy analysis or advocacy.

  • Experience working within nonprofit organizations focused on community development.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources.

  • Develop, write, and submit high-quality grant proposals and applications that clearly articulate program goals, objectives, and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with program staff to collect data, success stories, and budget information necessary for grant submissions.

  • Manage grant calendars, deadlines, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance and timely submissions.

  • Engage with community stakeholders and partners to strengthen proposals and demonstrate community impact.

  • Monitor and analyze public policy developments that may affect funding opportunities or program priorities.

  • Support fundraising efforts by contributing to donor communications and grant-related outreach activities.

Skills:

The required skills such as grant writing and grant administration are essential for crafting proposals and managing the lifecycle of grants from application to reporting. Community outreach and engagement skills enable the Grant Writer to build meaningful relationships with stakeholders and gather impactful stories that enhance proposals. Fundraising knowledge supports collaboration with development teams to align grant efforts with broader fundraising goals. Public policy expertise helps the Grant Writer stay informed about funding trends and regulatory changes that influence grant opportunities. Strong grammar and development skills ensure that all written materials are clear, professional, and effectively communicate the organization's mission and programmatic impact.
