Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for 3 South- Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit. This is a Part Time, Night shift position in Williamsburg, VA.

Hours: 645PM to 715AM with rotating weekend schedule.

The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit, 3 South, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions. 3 South also cares for pre/post catheterization, and acute stroke. This 24-bed unit sees a ratio of 1:6 with assistance of Patient Care Techs with a ratio of 1:8 on average. The unit cares for patients with acuity higher than a typical medical-surgical unit. 3 South Acute Cardiac is also preparing for a transition to a Cardiac PCU step-down with ratio of 1:4 before year's end, making it an exciting opportunity for nurses seeking growth in a dynamic, high-acuity setting. Recognized as a certified stroke center and holding magnet designation for excellence in patient care, Sentara Williamsburg Medical Center provides a collaborative environment for nurses to thrive and develop their expertise in cardiac care.

Registered Nurse Transition to Practice Programs at Sentara:

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Education

  • Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program

  • BSN or MSN preferred.

Certification/Licensure

  • BLS within 90 days of hire.

  • Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire

  • NIH within 1 year of hire

Experience

  • Acute care nursing experience preferred

  • Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred
