Reports To: Security Supervisor
Employment Type: Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Location: South Nashville Area - At Large

Compensation: $25 - $35 per hour


Job Summary:

Serva Security is looking for professional and prepared security officers to serve with our part-time team. We are looking for officers who work to learn and understand our client culture, understand the importance of relationships, and understand the importance of a professional presence. Serva security officers build relationships and earn trust; they are responsible for conducting security patrols and monitoring premises to prevent and respond to security incidents. They secure our campuses, sites, and people, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor, assisting with traffic control and overwatch duties. The use of video surveillance and access control software is required. Job Responsibilities:
  • Conducting security patrols and monitoring premises to prevent and respond to security incidents.
  • When faced with a threat, be capable of choosing the appropriate and legal level of force necessary to preserve the life and safety of our clients, including deadly force.
  • Secure campus and personnel by patrolling campus, including buildings, parking lots, and athletic fields, as well as inspecting buildings and access points
  • Maintain a positive and courteous demeanor, and communicate with others in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Assist with daily carpool and traffic control or other security duties as directed.
  • Accompany personnel and students between buildings and parking lots - upon request.
  • Formally log all observations, occurrences, and surveillance activities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Politely direct campus guests to appropriate log-in points and professionally notify unwanted visitors to leave the campus grounds.

Days and Hours:

  • Part-time shifts will vary in length and will occur both days and evenings and both weekdays and weekends.
  • Part-time officers will have the opportunity to fill in for school shifts, which generally run from 7:00–3:30 or 9:00–5:00.
  • Qualified officers will have opportunities to be assigned to Executive Protection and Residential Security details
Requirements:

Preferred Candidate Qualities:

  • Current, former or retired law enforcement or military.
  • Law enforcement of security position of SRO.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED trained.

Minimum Standards:

  • Must possess a current Tennessee Armed Security Guard License
  • Must have completed Active Shooting Certification
  • Must be able to pass a physical fitness test administered by Serva.
  • Must demonstrate proficient firearms skills and training.
  • Must be willing to place yourself in harm’s way for the protection of others.
  • Must pass a TBI criminal background check for work in educational facilities.
  • Must be able to work in the United States, verified by a Federal E-Verify check.

Waiver for Sworn Officers: Active sworn Tennessee police officers and sheriff deputies may have the TN Armed Security Guard License and Active Shooter Certification requirements waived.


Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to do 50 push-ups, then 50 sit-ups (or a 70-second plank), and 50 bodyweight squats in less than 8 minutes.
  • Work will be indoor and outdoor and require long periods of movement and activity.
  • Employment typically requires standing, walking, and working in noisy environments.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Carries firearms and other required security items at all times.
