Job description

Position Summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee is seeking dependable, adaptable, and mission-driven professionals to join our team as On-Call Club Managers. This role is designed to provide operational and supervisory support across our network of Club locations, ensuring safe, welcoming, and high-quality experiences for youth and families.

On-Call Club Managers will serve as the key site supervisor during assigned shifts by overseeing daily Club operations, supporting staff, maintaining compliance, and helping uphold the standards that make our Clubs successful. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are flexible, organized, and passionate about youth development and community impact.

We are seeking to hire five (5) On-Call Club Managers to support our approximately 48 Club locations throughout the Greater Milwaukee area.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily Club operations and help ensure a positive, engaging, and high-quality member experience

• Provide supervision and guidance to Club staff during assigned shifts

• Complete required documentation related to daily Club operations, such as attendance, incident reporting, and compliance

• Ensure building safety and security, including monitoring the environment and responding appropriately to concerns

• Document and report all incidents through the proper internal reporting channels in a timely and accurate manner

• Follow all agency policies, procedures, and expectations, as well as all applicable licensor requirements

• Maintain awareness of licensing and compliance standards and complete assigned daily Club compliance checks related to DCF, DPI, BGCGM, and BGCA requirements

• Work at different Club locations throughout the Milwaukee area as needed to provide on-call operational coverage and supervisory support (Please refer to BGCGM’s website for a map of all Club locations that you may be called to work at.)

• Communicate effectively with BGCGM Member Experience leaders, Club staff, and partnership site staff (such as MPS staff members, if needed) regarding daily assignments and operational needs

• Fully participate in a required six (6) week training program to ensure readiness to independently supervise a Club site (Note: During the six (6) week training program, individuals in this role will have regularly scheduled hours of 27-29 hours per week.)

• Support a consistent, youth-centered Club culture rooted in safety, professionalism, and positive relationships


Schedule & Position Expectations

• This is a part-time, on-call position.

• Typical shift hours are 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

• This role is designed to remain at or below 29 hours per week (this is not a benefits eligible position)

• This position will not have regularly scheduled hours and has no guarantee of a certain number of hours of work per week. Some weeks may have very few or no work hours, depending on organizational need.

• This position will not be scheduled for more than 40 hours per week across all BGCGM Club sites, and, therefore, individuals in this role should not expect overtime.

• Once hired and trained, On-Call Club Managers are expected to accept at least 75% of the shifts they are called to work within each six (6) month period. On-Call Club Managers will be expected to respond to calls/texts from BGCGM within four (4) hours to reply if they are available to work the shift or not. If no response is received within four (4) hours, it will be considered an unaccepted shift for attendance purposes.

• Work assignments will vary by day and location, depending on daily operational needs across BGCGM’s approximately 48 Club sites.


Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred

• Prior experience supervising staff, leading teams, or overseeing daily operations

• Experience working with youth, schools, after-school programs, community organizations, or similar environments preferred

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation

• Ability to make sound decisions and remain calm in fast-paced or unexpected situations

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to new environments and teams

• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to multiple Club locations throughout the Milwaukee area

• Ability to successfully complete all required onboarding, training, TB/physical testing, and background checks


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in youth development, education, recreation, nonprofit programming, or site-based operations

• Knowledge of licensing, compliance, or safety expectations in youth-serving environments

• Experience managing incidents, staff supervision, or operational compliance


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout a Club building and actively supervise youth, staff, and program spaces

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed

• Ability to work in active, fast-paced youth program environments

• Ability to respond appropriately in emergency or urgent situations
