What role you will play in our team
  • Serve as a technical expert supporting ExxonMobil's Base Stocks & Specialties (B&S) Process Technology
  • Contribute to technology development, manufacturing optimization, and project execution
  • Support commercialization and deployment of new and existing technologies
  • Partner with global manufacturing, product, engineering, and commercial teams
  • Drive continuous improvement and ensure reliable asset performance
  • Location is Houston area (Baytown, TX or Spring, TX)

What you will do
  • Provide technical support for process optimization, troubleshooting, and unit performance improvement
  • Support project development from concept selection through commissioning and startup
  • Contribute to unit startup/shutdown and turnaround activities
  • Conduct research and development in assigned technical areas
  • Apply statistical tools, experimental design, and data analysis to evaluate technical issues
  • Develop and validate product test methods and analytical approaches
  • Document technical work to support knowledge sharing and process efficiency
  • Ensure alignment with product integrity and quality processes and all other technology standards
  • Serve as a technical resource to business units and platforms

About you
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong foundation in process engineering and asset operations
  • Experience with process monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to design, execute, and interpret experiments and test methods
  • Knowledge of hydroprocessing fundamentals, catalyst mechanisms, and impacts on yield and quality
  • Understanding of patents, intellectual property considerations, and proper handling of technical information
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to work across functions and influence without authority

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience:
  • B.S. or M.S Chemical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in hydroprocessing, base stocks, or lubricants (required)
  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry (preferred)
  • Knowledge of:
    • Fractionation and physical separations
    • Front end engineering and project development
    • Turnaround and startup support
    • Safety fundamentals and risk management
    • Incident investigation and continuous improvement practices
  • Demonstrated strengths in:
    • Problem solving and decision making
    • Collaboration and knowledge sharing
    • Innovation and continuous improvement
    • Inclusion and initiative
