Job description

Position Title: Certified Barre Instructor

Position Reports to: Director of Fitness

Employee Categories: Part-time Year Round

FLSA Category: Non- Exempt; Hourly

Compensation: $65-$85/hr. based on experience.

The Country Club, a private club in the Boston area, is looking for an energetic, passionate and experienced barre instructor to join our group fitness team. The successful candidate(s) will possess excellent interpersonal capabilities, be dependable with a strong work ethic and have exceptional communication and customer service skills. Building member relationships and fostering a welcoming environment is also a key attribute of an instructor at The Country Club. The ideal candidate thrives in the intimate environment of small group classes and is committed to our team mentality. We welcome those who have a passion for health and fitness, and a love for educating others while also continuing to learn new skills to advance their personal repertoire. Compensation: $65-$85/hr. based on experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a positive attitude and teamwork mentality at all times.
  • Possess the confidence and desire to create new relationships quickly.
  • Build a client base that contributes to department revenues.
  • Assist members in their fitness journey.
  • Create a presence around the Fitness Center while being an ambassador for the Fitness Program.
  • Promote Club and Fitness specific programming to the membership.
  • Observe and take action to correct all situations to maintain a safe environment at the Fitness Center.
  • Instruct various fitness classes that align with area of expertise.
  • Report all incidents, complaints or suggestions as they occur to the Director of Fitness.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all emergency procedures.
  • Contribute various articles and videos in your area of expertise on a monthly basis to the Club newsletter, ebulletin and website.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events, conferences and online learning that meet the expectations and the requirements for re-certification. Maintain ability to apply new knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrate proper form and technique.
  • Ensure programs are effective, safe, and fun.
  • Take personal pride in your own health and fitness.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience required.
  • Certified Barre Instructor.
  • Certification in CPR/AED/First Aid for Adult, Child and Infant (will certify if necessary).
  • Possess the confidence and desire to create new relationships quickly.
  • Possess a sound understanding of professional decorum expected in a private club environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, energized environment.
  • Ability, desire and drive to make a difference.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality is required.

Specialized Knowledge/Licenses:

Candidates with experience in other exercise areas such as Pilates, yoga, strength and conditioning, nutrition, youth fitness and golf fitness are strongly encouraged to apply. We encourage creativity at The Country Club and support TCC team members to create and implement various workshops and classes that align with our annual plan.

Uniform Requirements

  • Uniforms will be provided.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical conditioning and stamina to sustain up to a three (3) hours / week schedule which includes training, physical, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Standing for long periods of time up to 3 hours per day.
  • Daily walking, lifting, bending, squatting and reaching up to 3 hours per day.
  • Ability to do a personal training workout or group fitness class.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

Schedule:

  • 1 - 3 hours per week.
  • Availability to teach mornings and potentially a rotating Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon schedule as needed.
  • Availability to teach a pop-up class(es) throughout the month with date(s)/time(s) mutually agreed upon.
