What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time web designer?

To thrive as a Part Time Web Designer, you need proficiency in HTML, CSS, and basic graphic design, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio. Familiarity with tools like Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and responsive design frameworks is typically required. Strong creativity, time management, and effective communication help you meet client needs and handle multiple projects efficiently. These skills ensure the creation of visually appealing, user-friendly websites that meet client objectives within limited hours.

What is a part time web designer?

A part time web designer is a professional who creates and maintains websites while working fewer hours than a full-time employee, often on a flexible or project-based schedule. Their responsibilities typically include designing website layouts, selecting color schemes, ensuring user-friendly navigation, and sometimes coding with HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. Part time web designers may work for companies, agencies, or as freelancers, allowing for a better work-life balance or the opportunity to pursue other interests or commitments. They play a crucial role in establishing a business’s online presence, even with limited hours.

How do part time web designers typically balance project deadlines with flexible work hours?

Part-time web designers often need to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines, which requires strong time-management skills and proactive communication. Since work hours can be flexible, it's important to set clear expectations with clients or team members about availability and progress updates. Many part-time designers use project management tools to track tasks and ensure milestones are met, helping them juggle responsibilities without compromising quality. Collaborating remotely with developers, content creators, or clients is common, so maintaining regular check-ins can help prevent miscommunication and keep projects on track.

Love design that actually converts? We're looking for a creative with an eye for digital performance.

Search Influence is a digital marketing agency helping businesses grow through smart, data-driven campaigns. We're adding a Part-Time Graphic Designer to our Operations team — someone who can move fast, think strategically, and craft digital assets that make people click. This is a flexible part-time role with variety.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design high-impact digital ads — HTML5, Google Display, LinkedIn, Facebook & Instagram
  • Build landing pages and layout designs that support SEO and paid campaigns
  • Create video ads and animated graphics for social and display platforms
  • Collaborate with our Account Management team to deliver polished concepts on time
  • Implement revision feedback quickly and efficiently — we move at agency speed
  • Maintain brand consistency across all client deliverables
  • Leverage AI tools (think Adobe Firefly, Midjourney) to accelerate creative production
  • Stay ahead of trends in digital design and share what you learn with the team

To snag this role:

Must-Haves:

  • 1+ year of graphic design experience in a digital advertising or multimedia agency
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Experience designing HTML5 ad units
  • Strong attention to detail and impeccable time management
  • Self-starter who can deliver independently without hand-holding
  • Excellent communication skills — written and verbal

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Figma and/or Canva
  • Portfolio showcasing digital ads, landing pages, and social graphics
  • Familiarity with UX/web design best practices
  • Experience with AI image generation tools
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge
  • Ability to work across platforms, including Google Web Designer

We understand that many candidates may not be perfectly qualified for a job posting. Experience comes in different forms; many skills are transferable, and passion goes a long way. Even more important than your resume is a clear demonstration of our values (collaboration, hungry, agile, reliable, genuine, effective, and dedicated). We want you to learn new things in this role, and we encourage you to apply if your experience is near the desired qualifications.
