Job description

Cybersecurity Specialist - DOE Naval ReactorsAxyde Analytics is recruiting a Cybersecurity Specialist to support the U.S. Department of Energy Naval Reactors Laboratory Field Office Mission Support Division. This position is contingent upon contract award.Work arrangementOn-site at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. Part-time assignment of approximately 1,560 hours per year. Personnel must provide coverage during core hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday, with schedules coordinated within normal site operating hours.Key responsibilities- Support implementation and management of classified and unclassified cybersecurity programs.- Ensure compliance with DOE, NNSA and Naval Reactors cybersecurity requirements.- Develop and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures and long-range plans.- Plan and lead cybersecurity compliance reviews, formal security surveys, audits, vulnerability assessments and risk analyses.- Evaluate contractor information-security programs, system security plans and technical controls.- Document findings, vulnerabilities and corrective-action recommendations in formal reports.- Advise and train personnel on cybersecurity policies and standards.- Lead process-improvement initiatives that strengthen cybersecurity and IT management practices.Required qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field and at least four years of directly relevant experience; or a master's degree in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience.- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the federal GS-12 level leading cybersecurity audits, compliance reviews, vulnerability assessments or risk analyses and identifying IT-system vulnerabilities.- Comprehensive knowledge of federal cybersecurity laws, regulations and directives, including DOE Orders, NNSA policies, Department of Defense instructions and Intelligence Community directives.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings to senior leadership.- Ability to work independently in a high-visibility, mission-focused environment with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.Security requirementA current DOE Q access authorization is required before the contract start date. A current Department of Defense Top Secret clearance may be accepted for reciprocity while DOE adjudication is completed. Applicants must be able to satisfy all DOE site-access, security, safety, health, environmental and information-security requirements.Preferred qualifications- CISSP, CISM or comparable cybersecurity certification.- Familiarity with software design, multiple IT disciplines and enterprise infrastructure.- Experience drafting security plans, standard operating procedures or organizational directives.- Demonstrated success improving cybersecurity processes and organizational security posture.Axyde Analytics is an equal opportunity employer.
