Emergency Medical Services-EMS Part Time-EMT Basic Salary: $20.54 an hour
General Statement of Duties
This position performs life support, transport, stabilization procedures, and emergency medical care at the Basic Level in Emergency Services.
Description
An employee in this class responds to the scene of emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons, and transporting persons to medical appointments and medical facilities.
  • Work includes assuring that quality emergency patient care standards are in place, proper equipment and treatment are available, and sound judgment and treatment decisions are made.
  • Work is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, extremes in temperatures, noise, vibrations, hazards associated with emergency medical work including exposures to fumes, odors, dusts, gasses and poor ventilation.
  • Because of the nature of the work, the employee is exposed to human blood and is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens.
  • Work is performed in accordance with established Anson County EMS operating guidelines and under local medical director approved protocols.
  • Work is performed under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and/or a Paramedic or Intermediate on assigned calls, and is evaluated through peer review, conferences, observations and public feedback.
  • The ideal candidate understands the value of personal responsibility, mutual respect and teamwork, honesty and integrity, positive communications, punctuality, exemplary attendance, and is motivated to deliver excellence in overall performance.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a High School Graduate or equivalent and possession of an Emergency Technician certification at the Basic Level.
Additional Requirements: Drug screen and background check required. All employees are E-Verified.
