Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities

Do you love playing sports? Do you love teaching kids to play sports? We are always looking for AWESOME volunteer coaches that have a passion for the game and love to teach kids what they know! Join us today as a Youth Sport Coach Volunteer!

Please note on your application which sport(s) you would be interested in coaching. A list of coaching opportunities and seasons is listed at the bottom.

Youth Sports Coach Volunteer

  • The purpose of the Youth Sports Coach Volunteer position is to provide an enjoyable and safe sporting experience for an assigned group of athletes, while they learn individual and team game skills, sportsmanship and fair play.

Responsibilities

  • Preside over team activities including all scheduled practices and games
  • Adhere to YMCA policies, rules and objectives.
  • Responsible for maintaining care of all YMCA Sports equipment.
  • Lead by example among team parents to support the responsibilities of the referee and league leadership.
  • Coach an assigned group of children and focus on skill development, safety, fair play, sportsmanship and fun.
  • Work to establish and improve team unity and spirit.
  • Ensure equal playing time for all players, regardless the score.

Qualifications

  • Desire to work with children.
  • Possess organizational skills, patience, maturity and dependability.
  • Sound character, strong morals, values and personal ethics.

Requirements:

Requirements

  • Complete YMCA coaches training.
  • Complete volunteer packet and background check.
  • Signed Code of Conduct & Waiver
  • Signed job description and coaches contract prior to beginning of season.
  • Coaching is available for one calendar year. After that coaches would need to reapply.
