How much do part time vocalist jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 2, 2026, the average yearly pay for part time vocalist in the United States is $50,117.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $38,500.00 and $59,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time vocalists in balancing multiple commitments?

Part-time vocalists often juggle their singing engagements with other jobs, studies, or personal responsibilities, which can make scheduling rehearsals and performances challenging. Maintaining vocal health without the benefit of daily professional training also requires extra diligence, such as regular warm-ups and proper rest. Additionally, networking and building relationships in the music industry can be more difficult when working part-time, so strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure reliability and professionalism.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Vocalist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Vocalist, you need strong vocal technique, pitch control, and performance experience, often backed by musical training or relevant coursework. Familiarity with microphones, sound systems, and recording software such as Pro Tools or Logic Pro is typically required. Confidence, adaptability, and strong communication help vocalists engage audiences and collaborate with other musicians effectively. These skills ensure high-quality performances and reliable contributions to musical ensembles or recording projects.

What are part time vocalists?

Part time vocalists are singers who perform on a non-full-time basis, often working gigs, studio sessions, or live performances as needed rather than holding a permanent, full-time position. They may collaborate with bands, choirs, recording studios, or entertainment venues, typically balancing their singing work with other jobs or commitments. Part time vocalists need strong vocal skills, versatility in musical styles, and the ability to adapt to various performance settings. Their schedules are often flexible and can vary greatly depending on demand and opportunities.
