OVERVIEW

The Ridley College Athletic Department and Prep Basketball team is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Scorekeeper/Game Day Operations Staff for the upcoming 26/27 school year to support the successful operation of home basketball games and related athletic events. This contract, part-time, on-site role is responsible for accurately recording game statistics, tracking scores, and maintaining player and team data in real time using league-approved scoring software and tools.

The position plays an essential role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of game records for athletes, coaches, officials, and league administrators. Directly reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director, the individual's responsibilities include preparing scorekeeping equipment prior to games, verifying team rosters, documenting key game events, and collaborating with referees, coaches, and athletic department staff to confirm results and statistics. Additional support for game-day operations and other athletic events may be required as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate electronic scorekeeping and statistical tracking systems during basketball games.
  • Accurately record scores, fouls, player statistics, timeouts, and other game-related data.
  • Set up and test scorekeeping equipment before games and troubleshoot minor technical issues when required.
  • Verify team rosters and ensure player information is entered accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with referees, coaches, and event staff to confirm game details and results.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with league and organizational standards.
  • Assist with general game-day operations and event support as required.
  • Ensure a professional, organized, and efficient scorekeeping environment throughout events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in recording scores and game statistics.
  • Previous experience in scorekeeping, sports statistics, officiating, athletics, or sport event operations is considered a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with National Preparatory Association (NPA) and Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) basketball is preferred.
  • Comfortable using scorekeeping software, digital platforms, and traditional scorebooks, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with officials, coaches, athletic department staff, facility personnel, and student-athletes.
  • Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple games or responsibilities during a shift.
  • Reliable availability for Tuesday and Thursday evening games and/or weekend league schedules.
  • Availability to support occasional weekday afternoon events is considered an asset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in basketball, athletics, or sport administration is beneficial.
