ESPN Madison Part-Time Producer

(Madison, WI)

ESPN Madison is seeking a part-time Producer to support the production and technical execution of live and syndicated programming, local shows, and play-by-play broadcasts. This position will primarily work evenings and weekends and is ideal for someone who is passionate about Wisconsin sports, enjoys working in a live broadcast environment, and is interested in growing their experience in sports media, audio, video, and content production.

The Role of a Producer

The primary role of this position is to work with hosts and broadcasters on live show board operation and play-by-play event execution. The Producer will also support broadcast log fulfillment, collaborate with other producers on news, ideas, and content, work with marketing and promotions teammates on contests and sponsorships, and assist engineering teammates in helping ensure the station remains on the air and operates in accordance with applicable FCC requirements.

Career responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Operate the radio board for live, syndicated, and locally produced programming, maintaining appropriate audio levels and smoothly transitioning between sources.
  • Support the execution of live play-by-play broadcasts and multi-market shows, including coordinating with hosts, broadcasters, producers, and technical teammates.
  • Work with hosts and broadcasters on show preparation, content planning, production elements, and live show execution.
  • Complete broadcast logs and help ensure programming, commercials, sponsorships, contesting, and other scheduled elements air accurately.
  • Set up and operate video cameras and live production equipment for PrepMania football, basketball, and other ESPN Madison events and broadcasts.
  • Create and implement production elements for ESPN Madison, including bumps, liners, promos, and other audio content.
  • Edit and publish show podcasts and other audio content for the ESPN Wisconsin App and digital platforms.
  • Cut and prepare audio and video from local shows, interviews, team coverage, and live events for sharing across Good Karma Wisconsin brands and platforms.
  • Assist with social media posting and the creation of original digital content supporting local shows, PrepMania broadcasts, station initiatives, and timely sports stories.
  • Collaborate with other producers and teammates on news, show ideas, audio, video, and content opportunities.
  • Work with marketing and promotions teammates to support contests, sponsorships, station events, and promotional initiatives.
  • Assist engineering teammates with identifying and addressing technical issues and helping ensure the station remains on the air and operates in accordance with applicable FCC requirements.
  • Stay informed about Wisconsin sports, Madison-area teams, and relevant local and national sports news.
  • Use approved AI tools to support content development, audio and video production, editing, research, and operational efficiency while reviewing all AI-assisted work for accuracy, quality, and alignment with brand standards.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as needed.

Preferred knowledge, skills and qualifications

  • Passion for sports and familiarity with the Madison and Wisconsin sports landscape.
  • Previous radio board operation, broadcast production, or live sports production experience preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe Audition or similar audio-editing software.
  • Experience with Clipchamp, CapCut, or similar video-editing software.
  • Basic experience setting up or operating cameras and video production equipment for live events.
  • Understanding of social media platforms and an interest in creating engaging sports content.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain organized during live, deadline-driven broadcasts.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with hosts, broadcasters, producers, engineers, and other teammates.
  • Willingness to learn new broadcast systems, production tools, and processes.
  • Flexible availability, including the ability to work primarily evenings and weekends.


Hours/Salary/Benefits
