Job description

Location: Henry Ford Hospital, 2333 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI 48192
Schedule: Part-Time (24 Hours/Week)
Shift: Day Shift
General Summary:
A Paramedic Clinical Extender is a professional care provider who shares responsibility and accountability for a group of patients in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting. Paramedic Clinical Extenders are members of the nursing clinical group and work in collaboration with other healthcare providers, under the immediate supervision of the registered nurse partner and/or physician.
The Paramedic Clinical Extender is responsible for providing age-appropriate, culturally, and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology.
The Paramedic Clinical Extender participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of health care services and tasks. The role of the Paramedic Clinical Extender also includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and oversight of unlicensed personnel.
Education/Experience Required:
  • Completion of a Paramedic program.
  • One (1) year of EMS experience required.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of EMS experience preferred.

Certifications/Licensures Required:
  • Maintains current ACLS and BLS provider status.
  • Licensure as a Paramedic in the State of Michigan.
  • PALS, PHTLS certifications preferred.
