Job description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Early Childhood Learning Center Aide supports the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, faith-centered, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. The aide assists with classroom instruction, supervision, daily routines, and activities while promoting the mission and values of the Catholic school.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist the lead teacher with classroom preparation and daily activities
  • Supervise children during classroom instruction, recess, lunch, rest time, and transitions
  • Support children’s social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and academic development
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
  • Reinforce classroom routines, behavioral expectations, and positive discipline practices
  • Assist with arts and crafts, learning centers, reading activities, and small-group instruction
  • Provide individual attention and encouragement to students as needed
  • Help children with personal care needs, including handwashing, toileting, and snack/lunch routines
  • Observe and report student progress, concerns, or incidents to the lead teacher
  • Support Catholic values, prayer, and faith-based activities within the classroom
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and school events as requested
  • Follow all school, diocesan, licensing, and safety policies and procedures
Job Requirements
  • Experience working with young children in a school, daycare, or childcare setting preferred
  • Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support the Catholic mission of the school
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to lift, carry, and actively supervise young children throughout the day
