Position description
UCSF Fresno & VACCHCS - Psychiatry Faculty
The University of California, San Francisco Fresno Medical Education Program (UCSF Fresno) and Veterans Affairs Central California Health Care System, Fresno (VACCHCS) are seeking candidates for full or part-time faculty positions at the VACCHCS in Fresno. Duties may include but may not be limited to:
  • Primary provider of psychiatric care for designated patients;
  • Provide psychiatric examination and treatment and coordination of medical care with patient's primary care provider;
  • Responsible for emergent and/or triage functions for walk-in patients;
  • Coordinating consultations and referrals of patients to other medical and/or mental health services;
  • Coordinating preventive health care needs according to established guidelines and sound psychiatric practice; and
  • Reviewing of patient care and treatment decisions.

The VACCHCS is a core training site for the UCSF Fresno Residency training program in numerous specialties and fellowships including psychiatry. With a faculty appointment, opportunities for resident supervision, teaching and clinical research will be available and encouraged. Responsibilities will include supervision of psychiatric residents, fellows, and medical students on core and elective psychiatry rotations at the VACCHCS, participation in UCSF Fresno Psychiatry Grand Rounds, and didactic seminar series. Candidates must be either board certified or eligible in Psychiatry (US Boards); must be California medical licensed or eligible to obtain a California medical license; and must have completed Psychiatry residency training. The program is based in Fresno, California, which offers a high standard of living combined with a low cost of living.
