Job description

Summary of Responsibilities

Hackley School seeks a Part-Time Teacher of Spanish to teach in the Middle and Upper Schools for a one-year appointment in the 2026-2027 academic year. The preferred candidate will have a strong background in the target language (BA in Spanish required; graduate degree preferred). The ideal candidate has experience teaching Spanish at the middle and upper school levels. Candidates with experience and skill in teaching additional languages (e.g., French, Chinese, and/or Latin) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Teaching responsibilities for the 2026-2027 school year include one section of Spanish 7 in the Middle School and one section of Spanish I in the Upper School.

Reporting Structure
The Part-Time Middle and Upper School Teacher of Spanishto the Modern Languages Department Chair, the Director of the Middle School, and the Director of the Upper School.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified specialist in teaching Spanish who is comfortable conducting classes in the target language and contributing to a curriculum with a communicative approach.
  • Flexible and happy to teach both Middle and Upper School (including AP Spanish)
  • Committed to learning and teaching in a collaborative, dynamic environment.
  • Comfortable using educational technology and integrating it into curriculum and daily lessons.
  • An eager collaborator in a group of 7 Spanish teachers and a department of 12 specialist linguists.
  • Willing to travel & chaperone trips abroad, particularly language immersion trips in the language(s) taught. Please mention any previous chaperoning experience.
  • A lifelong learner who values personal growth and professional development
  • Someone who brings joy and humor to the classroom and school community

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this 10-month faculty position is $31,353-$58,120, with experience informing a base salary as published in Hackley's faculty salary stage scale.
