Capital School District currently has school bus driver positions availble for:
Bus Routes
Sport trip drivers
Reports to:
Supervisor of Transportation
Salary: Current salary schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possess current School Bus Driver's license
  • Will train for CDL Class B
  • Either Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A or B
  • Have an annual physical examination
  • Have no more than 8 points on the driver's record
  • Have a negative TB test or satisfactory chest x-ray
  • GED High School Diploma
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe and comfortable transportation service for children.
  • Obeys all traffic laws of the State of Delaware.
  • Obeys all State Board Regulations pertaining to pupil transportation.
  • Reports all mechanical problems to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Checks the bus before each trip for mechanical operation.
  • Keeps the bus clean.
  • Operates the bus on a regular schedule.
  • Reports problems of children not ready or parents not meeting the bus to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Reports accidents or injuries to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Provides bus service for field trips.
  • Takes the bus for the semi-annual inspection.
  • Attends in-service meetings conducted by the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Keeps records of gas purchases and maintenance costs.
  • Sees that children are loaded and unloaded according to established procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand and /or fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
