Position Summary
Position Summary:
The Nursing Clinical/Field Experience Staff works as a member of an instructional team of full-time and part-time colleagues in the Nursing Department, to deliver high quality instruction to students. This position is responsible and accountable for evaluating the student in the clinical and/or laboratory setting and monitoring performance goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
1. Apply established principles, policies, and procedures consistently in accordance with assigned agency, nursing program, and Frederick Community College.
2. Provide clinical instruction and supervision of students.
3. Evaluate student performance in the clinical setting.
4. Provide a formal plan for orientation of assigned unit in the clinical setting.
5. Maintain clinical skills in the area of responsibility.
6. Develop and assign clinical assignments for students.
7. Establish weekly communication with assigned course coordinator.
8. Engage students in critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal workplace skills.
9. Infuse diverse, multicultural perspectives into the instructional process.
Required Minimum Qualifications
1. Currently licensed as a registered nurse in Maryland
2. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
3. 2 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse
4. Successful clinical experience in the area of specialty
5. Clear background check, drug screen, and fingerprinting if required by clinical site assignment
Desired Qualifications
1. Master's Degree in Nursing
2. Teaching experience in nursing education
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills
4. Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace
