Part-Time CT Technologist - Imaging | UPMC Hamot
UPMC Hamot is seeking a skilled and motivated Part-Time CT Technologist to join our Imaging team in Erie, PA. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact while working in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment that values flexibility, teamwork, and clinical excellence.
As a Level II Trauma Center and an accredited Stroke Center, UPMC Hamot offers CT Technologists the chance to work at the top of their license, supporting urgent, complex, and life-saving care. If you are looking for meaningful work, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to sharpen your skills in a high-acuity setting, this role is for you. This role may occasionally help out at the Imaging Center on Peach St.
This part-time position works rotating shifts with flexible scheduling, including rotation of weekends and holidays, making it an excellent option for professionals seeking work-life balance without sacrificing professional growth. Willing to train x-ray certified individuals, CT registry not required prior to hire.
Applicants will be placed in the appropriate level of the career ladder based on education, experience, and leader discretion.
This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of $10,000 with a 2-year work commitment.
Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
Responsibilities:
  • 1. Performs computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration without requiring constant supervision.
  • 3. Utilizes complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction and documentation of image data and completes procedures according to protocol.
  • 9. Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
  • 5. Administers PO, rectal and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to the administration of the contrast media required for the imaging procedure.
  • 7. Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient?s fears and solicit their cooperation.
  • 2. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement to adjust protocols, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
  • 6. Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect. Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
  • 8. Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures. Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient history in electronic record as required.
  • 4. Demonstrates proper technique in venipuncture; demonstrates proper use of power injector according to set protocols set by department and/or manufacturer.

Qualifications:
Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of accredited CNMT program. ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT registry within 6 months of hire date.CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained. CNMT graduates must obtain CNMT registry within 6months of hire date.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ARRT certified as a Radiologic Technologist is required or certified by a CNMT program. ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT registry within 6 months of hire date.CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained. CNMT graduates must obtain CNMT registry within 6 months of hire date.All CT Technologist working in NY facilities performing contrast media injection are required to have received certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and be Licensed through the New York State Department of Health.CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.If practicing under a temporary permit: cannot administer IV contrast or participate in contrast-enhanced CT requiring IV administration duties, must be under direct supervision of licensed radiologic technologist, must obtain ARRT certification within 180 days of permit issue date. Temporary permits expire 180 days from date of issuance, or upon notice that license application denied, or ten days after notification of failure of licensing exam, whichever occurs first.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
