Orchestra Director & Private Strings/Piano Teacher or SUB– Part-Time
In-Person | South Pasadena & San Marino | $45/hr starting rate

Encore Music, a thriving and community-rooted music school with two vibrant locations, is seeking an experienced Orchestra Teacher to lead our beginning orchestra classes on Mondays and Thursdays 2:45-4:15 thru the 1st week of March.
This role combines the joy of working with young ensembles in the afternoon with the opportunity to provide one-on-one instruction to dedicated private students in their homes. We are looking for a highly skilled, versatile, and reliable educator who is committed to helping students grow, both musically and personally.
Schedule:

  • Monday & Thursday | 2:45–4:15 PM – Beginning Orchestra (on site)
Compensation & Benefits:

  • $40/hour starting rate
  • Option to come on with other long term teaching opportunities

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field & experience with beginning orchestra.
  • Experience: Prior teaching experience required; orchestra or ensemble leadership a plus
  • Teaching Style: Ability to tailor instruction to each student while meeting program goals
  • Classroom Management: Skilled at maintaining an organized, respectful, and focused learning environment
  • Lesson Planning: Able to design engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans for both group and private instruction
  • Professionalism: Timely, reliable, and consistent—committed to long-term student growth
  • Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, encouraging, and able to connect with students and families
  • Mindset: Loves teaching and sees it as a long-term career path; values collaboration with colleagues
