What is a part time studio job?

Part-time studio jobs refer to roles within creative or production studios, such as photography, art, music, or fitness studios, that are scheduled for fewer hours than full-time positions. These jobs might include positions like studio assistants, technicians, instructors, or administrative staff. Part-time studio roles are ideal for those seeking flexible work hours, students, or individuals looking to gain experience in a creative environment. Duties can vary widely depending on the type of studio and may involve supporting production, maintaining equipment, or assisting clients and artists.

What are the typical responsibilities and work schedule flexibility for a part time studio assistant?

As a part-time studio assistant, your daily tasks often include setting up and maintaining equipment, assisting with client sessions, managing studio organization, and supporting creative projects. Work schedules can be quite flexible, often including evenings or weekends depending on studio bookings and project timelines. This flexibility allows you to balance other commitments, but it may also require adaptability to last-minute changes or extended sessions. Collaboration with artists, engineers, or photographers is common, making communication and teamwork important skills in this environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time studio assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part-Time Studio Assistant, you typically need organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic knowledge of studio operations, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant experience. Familiarity with scheduling software, studio equipment, and basic audio/visual tools is often required. Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork are standout soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure smooth studio workflows, effective support for artists or instructors, and a positive, productive environment.

Job description

Office Manager
Showcase Dance Studio | Manassas, VA | In-Person
Part-Time | Year-Round | Approximately 22.5 Hours/Week During the Regular Dance Season
$23-$25/hour, based on experience
Are You Our Next Office Manager?
Do you love people AND spreadsheets? Do you take pride in doing things exceptionally well? Are you the person who notices what needs to be done and handles it without waiting for someone to ask?
Showcase Dance Studio is looking for an exceptional Office Manager to help lead the daily operations of our busy, family-focused dance studio.
One minute you may be welcoming a new family for a studio tour, the next you're reviewing a family account, working in a Google Sheet, helping size a dancer for ballet shoes, answering the phone or helping a parent solve a problem.
If you love variety, organization, people, numbers and following things through to completion, this may be a great fit for you.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for an overachiever who takes pride in their work and strives for excellence.
You'll thrive in this position if you:
  • Genuinely enjoy helping and talking with people
  • Are an excellent listener and communicator
  • Are confident with numbers, money and spreadsheets
  • Are comfortable professionally following up on outstanding balances
  • Have exceptional attention to detail
  • Are organized and love a clean, fresh-smelling workspace
  • Naturally take initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do
  • Can handle frequent interruptions while still getting your work completed accurately
  • Stay calm and solutions-focused when someone is frustrated
  • Enjoy learning technology and new systems
  • Take ownership and follow responsibilities through to completion
  • Look for ways to make things better, not simply check things off a list
  • Believe "good enough" isn't the standard when you are capable of excellence
  • Are able to regularly walk throughout our 12,000+ sq. ft. facility, alternate between sitting and standing, bend and reach when assisting with merchandise and costumes, and lift/carry reasonable studio supplies

What You'll Do
You'll help oversee the daily administrative, financial and family-facing operations of the studio, including:
  • Providing exceptional 5-Star service to dancers and families
  • Managing family accounts, payments, credits, Accounts Receivable and collections
  • Answering phones, emails and family questions
  • Giving studio tours and assisting prospective families with enrollment
  • Working collaboratively with our team to manage leads through our CRM
  • Using Google Sheets, Google Forms, Google Docs, Jotform, Canva, Asana and studio-management software
  • Assisting with merchandise sales, inventory and ordering
  • Sizing dancers for dancewear, shoes and merchandise
  • Assisting with costume measurements, tracking and exchanges
  • Supporting studio events and administrative projects
  • Maintaining an exceptionally clean and organized office environment
  • Completing a final walkthrough of our facility each evening to ensure it is clean, organized, secure and ready for the next day
  • Identifying problems, taking initiative and helping find solutions

Our Culture Matters
Showcase Dance Studio is a More Than Just Great Dancing!ยฎ affiliated studio, and we believe dance lessons teach life lessons.
We are committed to equipping kids to excel in dance and in life through age-appropriate choreography, costumes, music and experiences; a happy, healthy and safe environment; character and leadership development; academic excellence; and giving back to our community.
Our Office Manager is one of the first and last people our families see, so finding someone who genuinely aligns with our values is incredibly important to us.
Qualifications
Previous office administration, customer service, account management or comparable professional experience is preferred.
You should also have:
  • Strong mathematical and financial aptitude
  • Strong computer skills
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organization and follow-through
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Confidence handling difficult customer conversations professionally
  • Ability to handle confidential family, employee and financial information with discretion
  • A willingness to learn new technology and systems
  • Reliable and consistent attendance
  • Willingness to complete required background screening, CPR certification and YPAD certification

Dance experience is highly preferred. It is not required, but familiarity with dance makes it much easier to confidently guide families, understand their needs and communicate the value of our programs.
Schedule
This is a part-time, year-round position with seasonal schedule changes based on our dance season and summer programming.
Regular Dance Season | Late August-Early June
  • Monday-Thursday: 3:45-8:45 PM
  • Saturday: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Monday Team Meeting: 10:30-11:00 AM via Zoom
  • Friday and Sunday are regular days off.

Summer | June-August
Our summer schedule looks a little different! Showcase offers daytime camps and three-day workshops throughout June, July and August. Office Manager hours may shift to daytime hours during summer programming, allowing the Office Manager to maintain their regular weekly hours while supporting our dancers, families and studio operations.
Summer availability and specific hours will be scheduled in advance based on the studio's camp and workshop calendar.
Special Events
Additional availability is required for select studio events, trainings, Picture Week, dress rehearsal, recital and other key studio dates.
This Probably Isn't the Position for You If...
You prefer a quiet workday with few interruptions, dislike talking about money, need frequent direction, or are comfortable leaving things unfinished.
But if you're the person who sees something that needs attention and thinks, "I've got it," we'd love to meet you.
Ready to Apply?
Please submit your rรฉsumรฉ and complete the application questions provided. Because attention to detail is an important part of this position, we encourage you to carefully review the entire posting and provide thoughtful responses.
Come help us create an exceptional experience for kids and families while keeping the heart of our studio running smoothly.
