Part-Time (24 hours/week)
Pay: $20.88/hour

Job Description

The Non-Registered Student Radiology Tech performs diagnostic imaging procedures within their Scope of Practice under the direct supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist. This role is designed to support students currently enrolled in an accredited radiologic technology program as they complete clinical requirements and transition into a Registered Radiology Technologist position. The expectation is that the caregiver will advance to a Registered Radiology Tech role as soon as possible. Caregivers are not expected to remain in this role longer than six months after completion of clinical hours.

Essential Functions

  • Practices within the scope of state licensure

  • Maintains ARRT or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions

  • Ensures proper patient identification, verifies orders, and prepares patients for exams

  • Performs exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy

  • Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment

  • Completes studies within acceptable timeframes without compromising patient care or quality

  • Provides patient education, ensures comfort, and addresses patient concerns

  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques

  • Operates imaging equipment and related systems to ensure high-quality imaging

  • Maintains accurate documentation of patient information, procedures, and any adverse reactions

  • Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, quality control programs, and reporting equipment issues

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a JRCERT or AMA approved Radiologic Technology program, with documented completion of required clinical and didactic training per state regulations

  • Limited Scope Radiology Tech license in Utah

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous patient care or healthcare experience (preferred)

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
