Part Time Stna information

What is a part time STNA?

Part time STNAs, or State Tested Nursing Assistants, are healthcare professionals who provide basic care to patients in settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, or long-term care facilities, but work fewer hours than full-time staff. Their duties often include assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, and helping with mobility. Working part time allows STNAs to have a more flexible schedule, which can be beneficial for work-life balance or for those pursuing education or other interests.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a part time STNA?

To thrive as a Part Time STNA, you need a state-approved nursing assistant certification, knowledge of basic patient care, and the ability to follow healthcare protocols. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), mobility aids, and infection control procedures is often required. Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills help STNAs build trust with patients and effectively collaborate with healthcare teams. These competencies ensure the delivery of safe, respectful, and high-quality care to vulnerable individuals in clinical or long-term care settings.

What challenges do part time STNAs face in balancing patient care with time constraints?

Part Time STNAs often manage multiple patients within limited shifts, which can make it challenging to provide thorough care while meeting time-sensitive tasks. Prioritizing responsibilities such as assisting with daily living activities, documenting care, and responding to patient needs requires effective time management and communication with the nursing team. Building strong organizational skills and staying adaptable can help STNAs deliver quality care even during busy or short-staffed periods. Support from coworkers and clear shift handovers also contribute to smoother workflow and reduced stress.

Both roles are essential in healthcare settings for patient care and support.

How many hours a week is part-time for a part time Stna?

A part-time STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) typically works between 20 and 30 hours per week, though schedules can vary by employer and state regulations. Many part-time positions offer flexible hours, often including evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts, depending on the facility's needs.
