Job description

At Kids In Tech, we believe every child deserves access to quality education, and we are looking for a part-time STEM Program Instructor to help make that happen. If you have a passion for education, technology, and making a difference, this is the perfect role for you.


THE BASICS

Pay: As a part-time STEM Program Instructor, you will earn $17.55 - $28.50 per hour!

Schedule: This part-time position follows the school calendar, running from October 2024 to June 2025. You will work a minimum of two days per week at partner sites during active program weeks, with additional time for lesson prep, data management, and team meetings.

YOUR DAY AS A STEM PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR

As a part-time STEM Program Instructor, you will lead two cohorts of up to 15 students, meeting twice a week for 60-minute sessions. You will implement the Kids In Tech curriculum, preparing materials for interactive lessons that bring STEM concepts to life. As a near-peer mentor, you will inspire students by showing them how the material connects to their everyday lives and future careers. You will create an encouraging classroom environment where students feel safe to explore, learn, and ask questions. In addition to teaching, you will engage families through monthly outreach to keep them involved in their children's education. You will collaborate with partner sites to align lessons with their educational goals, organize field trips and guest speaker sessions, and track student progress by collecting and entering data.


REQUIREMENTS FOR A STEM PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR

  • • High school student, graduate, or possesses equivalent to a diploma (ideally aged 16 - 24)
  • • Passion for STEM fields (related club or coursework experience a plus)
  • • Enthusiasm, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a growth mindset

Being a Boston resident or having reliable transportation is preferred. Experience in education or youth development is also preferred. Bilingual candidates are encouraged, especially in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, French, Vietnamese, Arabic, Mandarin, Cape Verdean Creole, or Khmer!
