Position Summary

This is a front-line customer service position for Chartway Arena and ODU Athletic events. Ticket sellers assist customers in person at the arena and ODU Athletic facilities in addition to handling phone calls. Transactions typically include ticket sales (working through customer seating and price requests, cash handling, credit card processing, and using a computer); will call functions (locating tickets and researching confirmation details); customer inquiries (understanding policies and procedures, providing accurate information, and researching answers and transactions); and on-site parking sales (processing payments in parking garages/lots and validating prepaid parking passes) while providing a high level of customer service.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $17.00.

About the Venue

Chartway Arena is a 9,100-seat multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Old Dominion University. Operated by Oak View Group since it opened in 2002, Chartway Arena is known as one of the premier mid-sized collegiate venues in the country. Chartway Arena is home to Old Dominion Monarch Men's and Women's basketball, as well as concerts, family shows, and other attractions for the Hampton Roads area. 

Responsibilities
  • Selling Event Tickets to Patrons.
  • Working Customer Service Windows.
  • Working Will Call Windows.
  • Answering phone inquiries.
  • Processing on-site payments in parking garages/lots.
  • Validating prepaid parking passes.
  • Reconcile daily sales.
  • Working Chartway Arena events and ODU Football/Basketball/Volleyball/Soccer/Baseball games.
  • Display outstanding customer service to all patrons.
  • Provide accurate Chartway Arena and ODU Athletic information to patrons.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned.
Qualifications
  • Prior sales and customer service experience preferred but not necessary.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Cash Handling Experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and must be consistent with on-time arrival.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
