Expectations:

The Emergency Department (ED) Patient Relations Liaison serves as the primary point of contact for patients and families, providing proactive support, communication, and service recovery throughout the Emergency Department. This role partners closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to remove barriers to care, enhance communication, and create a welcoming, compassionate patient experience while supporting efficient department operations.

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

One year of prior experience in clinical patient care in an acute care setting (Current CNA may be substituted for the one year experience requirement).

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred.
Minimum two (2) years ED experience in Level II Trauma preferred.

Some experience with EPIC preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) issued by California Department of Public Health (CDPH) or equivalent.
Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) issued by American Heart Association.

SKILLS:
Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
Knowledgeable in key tenants of patient experience and service recovery.
