Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) | Part-Time
Solon Smiles | Solon & Mentor, OH
Solon Smiles is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our growing team on a part-time basis. We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing exceptional patient care, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is committed to delivering high-quality clinical support.
This position offers the opportunity to utilize your full EFDA skillset while working alongside a supportive team dedicated to delivering outstanding patient experiences.
Schedule
Part-Time
  • Monday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Solon Location)
  • Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Solon Location)
  • Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Mentor Location)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for dental procedures
  • Assist the dentist during restorative, cosmetic, surgical, and preventive treatments
  • Place and finish dental restorations (fillings) in accordance with EFDA licensure and state regulations
  • Take dental impressions and fabricate temporary crowns or restorations
  • Apply sealants, fluoride treatments, and desensitizing agents
  • Take and process digital dental radiographs (X-rays)
  • Perform coronal polishing and other expanded functions permitted by state law
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
  • Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation
  • Sterilize instruments and follow infection control protocols
  • Monitor inventory and ensure operatories are stocked and organized

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program
  • Current Ohio EFDA certification/licensure required
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control standards
  • Strong communication and patient care skills
