Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Senior Mineral Resource Geologist to join our US Mining team. This position requires an individual with broad exploration and mining operation experience and proven technical competencies to support our industrial and mining sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing resource exploration and modeling solutions that will complement and support our team responsible for resource-reserve estimation, mining engineering, hydrogeology, mine planning, mineral processing, and financial analysis. We are looking for someone to participate in multi-disciplinary team projects, who can lead projects in your area of expertise, and is willing to assist with business development of existing and new clients. Our offices are uniquely situated with a strong team of mining professionals and great growth potential.
Your Key Responsibilities
Working under the direction of the Manager - Geologic Modeling and Resource Evaluation, you will:
  • Build geologic models using software programs such as MinePlan, Leapfrog, Vulcan, Geologist or similar packages
  • Analyze and interpret data using database and GIS programs such as Microsoft Access, Excel, MinePlan, ArcGIS, Mapinfo, Torque or similar packages
  • Author independent technical reports as Qualified Person (NI43-101) or Competent Person (JORC) once having obtained the necessary experience and qualification
  • Manage, plan and implement resource exploration and evaluation programs
  • Assist in developing work with new and existing clients

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Diverse background in exploration and mining projects, past career focus in field exploration, database management, geologic modeling, and resource estimation.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong QA/QC skills
  • A broad understanding of the independent reporting requirements under NI43-101, JORC and SEC SK-1300
  • Understanding of project related risks
  • Ability to develop a strong network in the local and national marketplace
  • Exceptional organizational, technical, leadership, and communication skills
  • Willingness to work and travel to remote locations for short periods (e.g. two weeks)
  • Willingness to pursue a P.G. or QP during the first two years of employment

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a B.S. in Geology with preference given to an M.S. degree
  • P.G. or QP is preferred
  • 10 to 15 years of experience

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$122,500.00 - $183,800.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
