Job description

Smoky Mountain Children's Home, a faith-based non-profit organization, is seeking part-time Direct Care Staff for the Sevierville, TN campus. In this role you would be in a position to make a positive difference in the lives of at-risk youth. You will join a team of dedicated individuals who oversee the welfare of an assigned group of at-risk youth.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support to adolescent youth
  • Model and encourage positive attitudes and behaviors
  • Help teach social and independent living life skills, including coping mechanisms
  • Ensure the safety of every youth
  • Prepare healthy meals daily
  • Provide daily routines and structure in a home environment
  • Help youth develop healthy relationships with family and friends
  • Perform and supervise household chores
  • Supervise and assist with homework and school activities
  • Assist youth in achieving their program plan and permanency goals
  • Plan and supervise social events and activities
  • Shop for and organize the supplies needed to manage a household of 8 youth and their caregivers
  • Encourage the spiritual growth of each resident
  • Provide oversight of the cottage, grounds, and equipment
  • Provide transportation for youth when needed (via company vehicles)
  • Oversee and manage the overall operations of your assigned cottage

Position Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and accept supervision.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and extensive background checks.
  • Must be physically capable of performing all job duties.
  • Must be able to perform basic housekeeping duties and prepare meals.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills with a caring approach.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.

Work Schedule:

Salary Information:
$14.50/hour with a .50/hour pay increase after 90-day probationary period (with a favorable performance evaluation).
