Job description

STEAMspark is seeking an experienced and creative Digital Marketing & Communications Specialist to provide additional capacity to our digital marketing team for a temporary 3 to 6 month engagement. This role is ideal for a hands-on marketer who can quickly learn the STEAMspark brand, work independently, and help execute digital communications across social media, email, web, and other channels. The specialist will report directly to STEAMspark executive leadership and work closely with members of our school and administrative teams. This is a part-time position designed to provide additional marketing capacity for a temporary 3 to 6 month engagement.

Job Overview

  • Do you want to advance that "spark" that keeps our community engaged?
  • Are you passionate about great storytelling, digital engagement, and education?
  • Do you want to be part of something special?

If this is you, we want you on our STEAMspark Montessori team.

We are seeking a Digital Marketing & Communications Specialist who can help turn ideas, school experiences, events, and strategic initiatives into polished digital content and campaigns. This is more than a social media posting role. We are looking for someone who can contribute across content creation, digital marketing, email, website development and maintenance, campaign execution, and performance reporting.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management: Create, schedule, and publish content across our social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other appropriate channels.
  • Content Creation: Develop engaging and informative graphics, photography, short-form video, reels, stories, and written content that align with our brand, mission, and educational experience.
  • Digital Campaigns: Help plan and execute coordinated digital campaigns supporting school initiatives, events, admissions, community engagement, fundraising, and other strategic priorities.
  • Email Marketing: Develop and support email campaigns, newsletters, calls to action, and other digital communications.
  • Website Development & Management: Create, edit, and maintain website pages, landing pages, calls to action, forms, images, and campaign content. Experience working with a modern content management system is important. STEAMspark uses Finalsite Composer; experience with Finalsite Composer or comparable CMS/page-building platforms such as Blackbaud School Website System, WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or Webflow is valuable.
  • Website Content & SEO: Help ensure website content is current, well organized, mobile friendly, accessible, on brand, and optimized for search and prospective-family engagement.
  • Community Engagement: Monitor digital channels, respond appropriately to comments and messages, and help strengthen engagement with families, prospective families, alumni families, friends, and community partners.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track social media, email, website, and campaign performance and provide concise reporting, insights, and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Brand Promotion: Help tell the STEAMspark story through consistent messaging and visual presentation across digital channels.
  • Market Research: Stay current on digital marketing trends, platform changes, tools, and best practices, and recommend ideas that can strengthen our digital presence.
  • Collaboration: Work directly with executive leadership and collaborate with members of the marketing, admissions, school, and administrative teams to ensure cohesive messaging and timely execution.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in digital marketing, communications, social media, content creation, website management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong editing and storytelling ability.
  • Experience creating short-form video, social-first content, graphics, and other digital assets.
  • Experience creating and maintaining content in a modern website CMS or page builder. Finalsite Composer experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with comparable platforms such as Blackbaud School Website System, WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, or similar tools is valuable.
  • Working knowledge of Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms and digital campaign execution.
  • Ability to interpret digital analytics and translate results into practical recommendations.
  • Creativity and a strong eye for design, photography, brand consistency, and detail.
  • Ability to work independently, move quickly from idea to execution, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in education, independent schools, Montessori education, nonprofit communications, fundraising, or community-based organizations is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • None

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and the structure of the engagement. This is a temporary, part-time position for a 3 to 6 month engagement. The anticipated schedule is approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, with flexibility based on project needs, experience, and availability.

About our Organization

STEAMspark is committed to:

  • Preparing children to become top academic performers throughout their education.
  • Positioning them to take on more advanced courses in secondary school.
  • Enabling them to pursue higher education opportunities successfully.
  • Igniting a passion for learning at an early age through Montessori-driven, STEAM-integrated, age-appropriate, highly interactive curricula taught by dedicated educators.

STEAMspark is a growing Montessori school community focused on creating an extraordinary educational experience for children while thoughtfully expanding the programs, experiences, and environments available to our families.
