Tailor / Alterations Specialist – Menswear

Position Summary
We’re looking for a skilled, dependable Tailor / Alterations Specialist to join our team. This role focuses on alterations and garment finishing for suits, dress pants, shirts, and other menswear. The right person will take pride in quality work, communicate well with the sales team, and help ensure customers leave with clothing that fits well and feels great.

This is a great fit for someone with tailoring experience who enjoys independent work, values consistency, and wants to be part of a team that helps customers prepare for important life events.


Schedule
Part-time with flexible structure available. Saturday availability preferred at times, depending on workload and store needs.


Responsibilities

  • Perform alterations on suits, dress pants, dress shirts, tuxedos, and other menswear
  • Handle hemming, waist adjustments, sleeve adjustments, tapering, seat adjustments, and other common alterations
  • Work with the sales team to complete alterations accurately and on time
  • Assist with fittings when needed, especially for more difficult or detailed alterations
  • Maintain clear communication about turnaround times, priorities, and workload
  • Help train team members on alteration processes, garment prep, and how to better support the tailor shop
  • Keep work area, tools, and garments organized and in good condition
  • Help ensure completed garments meet Holmes Clothing standards for quality and presentation


Qualifications

  • Previous tailoring or alterations experience required
  • Strong sewing skills and attention to detail
  • Experience working with suits, dresswear, or formalwear preferred
  • Ability to assess garment fit and make sound alteration recommendations
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage deadlines
  • Clear communication and willingness to work closely with the sales team
  • Ability to work independently and produce consistent, quality results
  • Experience with menswear preferred but not required if alteration skills are strong
