Job Summary
A campus security officer's primary purpose is to protect the well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors while safeguarding institutional property. They achieve this by patrolling the grounds, deterring crime, enforcing college regulations, and serving as the frontline response during emergencies.
Job Duties:
โ€ข Performs periodic campus walk-through; inspects and observes campus facilities, secures rooms and buildings and notifies respective department of observed problems
โ€ข Responds to medical emergencies, provides assistance as training allows, and contacts EMS as needed
โ€ข Works with Director of Security to handle disruptions on campus, utilizing conflict resolution practices and contacts local police department as needed
โ€ข Provides individuals escort service between cars and worksite as requested
โ€ข Assists with campus crisis situations, with building evacuations, drills, etc as needed
โ€ข Monitors parking facilities, insuring only authorized vehicles park in restricted areas
Minimum Qualifications:
High School/GED, and one year related experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Security or law enforcement experience preferred but not required.

Campus security officers need a blend of keen observational abilities, conflict resolution, and technical proficiency to maintain a safe educational environment.
