Armed Security Officer for The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum
In need of flexible part time armed officers with weekend availability and weekday evenings (16-hours each minimum).
Events can run up to midnight on weekdays and especially weekends (4-6-hour increments [mostly 4])MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND MANDATORY PRE-HIRE TRAINING (APPROXIMATELY 2 WKS).Pay Rate: $27.29 per hour
Objective
This position is under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor. It protects and secures assets, personnel, customers, and visitors to a federal facility. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Essential Functions
Read and understand the English language to effectively carry out applied printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials. Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to properly communicate in person or via electronic devices (telephone and radio) with co-workers and the general public. Maintaining a professional, tactful, and courteous demeanor under stressful situations, security personnel routinely encounter. Possess honesty, integrity, good judgment, courage, alertness, and self-reliance. Must be able to deal with the public tactfully and courteously in dispensing information relating to NARA, its organization and functions, and the facility's layout. Must demonstrate impartial enforcement of regulations. Must Maintain courtesy, tact, diplomacy, and self-control even when firmness is necessary for performing duties. Be able to compose precise short paragraphs, written reports, and other reports in English as necessary.
Job Duties
- Performs security patrols.
- Enforces access control procedures.
- Protects all persons and property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidents.
- Investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards, and other security-related situations.
- Assist customers, employees, and visitors in following the department's procedures.
- Be fully familiar with special security equipment and proper and safe operations (roadway bollards, intrusion and fire alarm systems, X-Ray equipment, magnetometers, hand-held metal detectors, CCTV systems, radio and telecommunication systems, Automated External Defibrillators.)
- May perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Candidate Qualifications:
United States citizen
At least 21 years of age
HS diploma or GED
Possess at least three 3 years of security experience within the last five (5) years.
Must be able to fluently speak, read, and write the English language.
Must possess a California State Security Guard Certification card, California Handgun Permit, Baton card, and firearms qualification permits.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
The applicant must submit to a pre-employment medical exam and drug screening.
The applicant must be able to pass an NLIC / State / Local Background check and Credit check (as applicable).
The applicant must obtain client/site suitability approval
Additional training is required.
