At the Saint Louis Science Center, our mission is to 'inspire everyone to be curious and engaged in science.' We seek to make science accessible through informal, interactive learning experiences. We are a team of educators, entertainers, and science enthusiasts, who work together to make the Saint Louis Science Center one of the top 10 in the country.
The Membership Sales Representative is responsible for performing all aspects of on-site membership sales and services in a visitor facing location at the Membership Services Desk. Responsible for maintaining relationships with members and Science Center guests alike. This position represents the face of the membership department and should demonstrate a strong passion and enthusiasm for the mission of the Science Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Actively engage visitors to support and increase on-site membership sales.
  • Provide excellent service to members in areas of ticketing, information inquiries, conflict resolution and special requests.
  • Maintain a friendly and positive attitude with the public.
  • Always demonstrates professionalism.
  • Develops and maintains a familiarity with the various exhibits, activities, events and galleries at the Science Center.
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of the membership and donor program.
  • Available to work member events throughout the year on evenings and weekends preforming a variety of tasks.
  • Balance and operate a cash drawer and operate a P.O.S. system with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Track daily membership sales and complete sales reports.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Membership Director, or other membership department staff.

COMPETENCIES:
  • Demonstrated success in personal selling and providing excellent customer service required.
  • Previous experience handling a cash drawer.
  • Outgoing and energetic personality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, speaking an additional language a plus.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, service-oriented, and results-driven environment.
  • Must be dependable, professional, enthusiastic, detailed oriented, and flexible.
  • Must be available to work varied hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or GED required, associate's degree preferred.
