A Brief Overview
Assists the nursing staff by performing clerical duties relative to the functioning of the Nursing Unit. Regularly interacts with patients and families to enhance the overall patient experience by responding to requests and alerting appropriate staff. Must possess strong customer service skills and a positive attitude.
What you will do

  • Assists the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator and/or Charge Nurse in the effective and efficient functioning of the nursing unit including coordination of information, unit organization and communication with other departments and physicians
  • Checks Unit Inventories, storeroom, and other supplies and places orders as indicated by the Nurse Manager
  • Welcome all newly admitted patients and orient them to their room and patient engagement system
  • Assembles and prepares for admissions/transfers/discharges
  • Ensures charts are completed; content is in proper sequence and placed in appropriate areas for Health Information Services pick-up upon patient discharge or when chart is thinned
  • Assists patients with non clinical requests
  • Answers telephone; takes and relays messages; provides information as appropriate
  • Responds to the patient call bell system and immediately refers to RN or PCT. Follow up as necessary.
  • Coordinates patient transport to and from special tests, procedures, and discharges
  • Performs all other duties as assigned


Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required and
  • One year of continued education Preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years Prefer one to two years of experience Preferred


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and office equipment (Medium proficiency)
  • Computer-literate (Medium proficiency)
