JOB OPENING PART-TIME

ELEMENTARY GIRLS GOT GOALS, SOCCER COACH 

Hours: Part time up to 25 hours per week  Monday to Friday

Salary: $23.50 - $26/hour, depending on experience

Dates: August 3, 2026, to June 2, 2027

Locations:  Longfellow Elementary,

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Since 1971, Jamestown Community Center has been providing learning opportunities and safe spaces for low-income youth in San Francisco’s Mission District. Our youth represent the low-income, racially and ethnically diverse community in which they live and attend school. Our strategy is to serve a core group of neighborhood youth with multiple, high-impact programs as they grow through a full range of programs designed to help them transition from children into confident young adults. 

Programs include Arts instruction, academic tutoring, sports, leadership development, employment, counseling, and parent programs. Throughout these programs, Jamestown aims to provide all participants with the highest-quality youth development experience. POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Girls Got Goals coach will lead and coordinate the 3rd-5th-grade girls’ soccer team at one of our sites within our After-School program. The school-year program offers practices three days a week and culminates with the Girls Got Goals League, which includes other local elementary schools’ girls’ teams in the spring.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development

  • Teach basic soccer fundamentals to girls ages 7-10.
  • Supervise youth during practices, games, and homework lab. 
  • Supervise and provide support to a youth worker (YAPster).
  • For the Girls Got Goals League:
    • Assist with transportation to games and workshops
    • Coach games 
    • Supervise players
  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding game schedules, behaviors, and attendance issues.
  • Assist the GGG League Coordinator in creating workshops that address team-building, identity formation, and age-appropriate issues affecting middle school girls. 
  • Attend supervision meetings with the GGG League Coordinator.  

Administration 

  • Provide support with required paperwork, such as collecting attendance and creating flyers.
  • Communicate with parents and youth about the program.
  • Meet regularly with the GGG League Coordinator.
  • Actively participate in supervision meetings, staff meetings, training, and After-School meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Knowledge and Abilities 

  • A passion for Jamestown’s mission and a commitment to providing young people with the highest-quality youth development experience.
  • Must be available between 2:30 pm and 6:45 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
  • Computer proficient, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Salesforce

Education and Experience

  • Experience coaching soccer with 7- to 10-year-old girls preferred.
  • Experience in girls' sports programming.
  • Experience in working with multi-ethnic, multicultural youth.
  • Experience in developing team-building exercises and gender-specific workshops.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is strongly preferred but not required
  • Provide documentation that meets SFUSD Instructional Aide requirements or take an equivalency exam.
  • Provide or be open to obtaining a US Soccer coaching license. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds
  • Working conditions included standard office and school settings as well as occasional travel within the Bay Area.
  • Use a computer, phone, copier, and office equipment
  • Fingerprint and TB Clearance
